Below you’ll find an introduction to skills for the Diablo 3 Witch Doctor, for more in-depth information and a full guide, check out this this Witch Doctor reference.

Next is the summon abilities. Summon Zombie Dogs. This is a basic, basic thing that we’ve been using throughout the game, throughout the play through I was doing. Very helpful. They do keep things at a distance from you when you want to keep them at a distance. So far, I’ve enjoyed using them, and that’s about all I can say.
Grasp of the Dead. Hands reach out from the ground, slowing Enemy movement by 60% and dealing 20% weapon damage as physical for 8 seconds. This is pretty straightforward. I didn’t have much use for it. It seems like a small amount of damage where I’ve got to keep things around it. It seems like it could be helpful, especially if I was really in tune with the Class. Situationally, it could be a lot of fun. That’s up to you.
Hex. Summon a Fetish Shaman for 8 seconds, who will hex enemies into chickens. Hexed enemies are unable to perform offensive actions and take 10% additional damage. My experience with Hex is this guy does not move around a lot, just kind of stands there, and will hex something. He’s just kind of randomly moving, and then he disappears. A very short cool down. So far I’ve only ever seen him hex a single target at a time. So, you turn one
target into a hex.
Situationally useful. My decision for not using it through the play through, I’ve used it very briefly, my decision for not continuing to use it through the play through is, I only had a certain number of Active Skill slots available, and that was too minor for what I was doing and to be able to make effective use of it. And it was coming at the expense of Plague of Toads, which is awesome.
Sacrifice. All of your Zombie Dogs explode, each dealing 200% weapon damage as physical damage to all Enemies within 12 yards. Straightforward.
Gargantuan. Summon a large zombie follower to fight for you. The Gargantuan swings for 25% f your weapon damage as physical with every swing. Okay, this is on a minute cool down, just like the Zombie Dogs are. It’s going to be a pet. Actually, the Zombie Dogs are only one minute, so I apologize for saying that. There you go, straightforward.

Big Bad Voodoo. Cool down 2 minutes. Summon a Fetish to begin a ritual dance that increases the attack, casting and movement speed of all Allies in the area by 20% for 20 seconds. Two minute cool down, take it for what it is.
Finally, Fetish Army. Two minute cool down. Summon an army of Fetish Creatures to fight by your side for 20 seconds. Dagger wielding Fetish Creatures attack for 20% of your weapon damage as physical.
These are the Summon Abilities. You can use them on cool down, etc. Some of them you can use all the time, of course, like Poison Dart, basic stuff. Again, the Fire Bats are just incredible. I had a lot of fun with them. Keep it mind that you can have maximum 6 skills it your hot bar. Choose the proper skills that suit your play style the most for your best diablo 3 leveling.
And, other than those Active Skills, if you’re not already aware, you only have a certain number available that you can have them on your Hot Bar at any given time. You can’t do anything pro, like, I’m going to go ahead and summon hex, and then take this skill out of Hot Bar. Then, hex disappear very fast.
These are the Abilities. You can only have a certain amount on your Hot Bar, not on your Hot Bar, but just generally available to you at any given time. Now, obviously, the Hot Bar is a big part of that. And, so, early in game, what I found was I had a lot of amazing Damage Abilities, but I couldn’t use the situational Abilities without giving up Damage.
Hopefully, that starts, because Diablo 3 Witch Doctor does have such a cool variety of skills. That’s going to start to open up as you play more, and obviously as you get these other slots opened. All Abilities, Active, Passive, are available by the time you’re Level 30. All of your slots are available by the time you’re Level 24, just like other diablo 3 classes.
